FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FOOD REVOLUTION DAY 2015
BARRIE, Ontario, 05/15/2015 -
Local ambassadors Katherine
Parent and Kathryn Abel join Jamie Oliver’s Global food revolution
Katherine Parent, Holistic
Nutritionist, lover of food & mother and Kathryn Abel foodie, mother &
entrepreneur from Barrie, Ontario Canada will join chef and campaigner Jamie
Oliver and hundreds of ambassadors across the world to take part in the fourth
annual Food Revolution Day on Friday 15 May.
Food Revolution Day,
launched in 2012, is right at the heart of all the work Jamie and the Jamie
Oliver Food Foundation do to engage and inspire people of all ages to learn
about food and how to cook it.
This year, Food Revolution
Day is a global campaign to put compulsory food education back on the school
curriculum. Jamie passionately believes that by educating children about food
and cooking in a fun and engaging way, we can equip them with the basic skills
they need to lead healthier, happier lives, for themselves and their future
families.
With overweight and obesity
statistics increasing at an alarming rate, and preventable diet-related disease
claiming more lives earlier than ever before, it has never been more important
to educate children about food, where it comes from and how it affects their
bodies. Food Revolution Day is about getting kids food smart and setting them
up for a long, healthy life.
More than 1,300 ambassadors
in more than 120 countries are currently planning events, both big and small.
In Barrie, Katherine and Kathryn are already planning a couple elementary
school events and Rogers Daytime TV will be having them visit to promote this
Global initiative. The community is excited to be involved in a truly global
event.
Katherine
Parent says:
“It truly is exciting to be an Ambassador for such a cause. All it takes is
each of us making a conscious decision to eat real food. Get our children,
co-workers & neighbours to plan something around food. It could be a
potluck or a bake sale and even a community BBQ.”
