Is it time for a new mattress?

If you are waking up to new pains in your back and lower back or you wake up feeling tired and your body feels stiff and sore, your mattress may not be supporting you enough and it may be time to replace your mattress.

While you may think that your aching shoulders and tightness in your lower back is because of old age, if these symptoms disappear when you sleep somewhere else, it's a sign that your mattress is no longer providing the support your body needs to fully relax and rest all night.

If you suspect your pain may be caused by your old mattress, find a different place to sleep for a night and see if you notice a difference.

Is it time for a new mattress?

How old is your mattress?

If your mattress is 7 years or older, then a new mattress will likely improve your sleep.

Technology advances have changed the foams and support used in today's mattresses, most of them don't last as long as they used to.

Next time you are changing your sheets, inspect your mattress. If your mattress looks worn, lumpy or has visible sags in the mattress, it is most likely time to replace it.

How do you harvest latex?

To tap a rubber tree, a collector will make a thin cut on the diagonal to remove a small piece of bark. This allows the milky liquid to run out of the bark down the tree and this fluid is collected in a bucket. However, the flow will stop after about 6 hours when the bucket will be collected. The tree may be tapped again with a new cut the next day.

To make a queen size latex mattress, it will take a whole day's output of 12 acres of rubber trees.

What Is Natural Latex?
100% natural latex is a milky fluid found in the bark of rubber trees. Continuous tubes of latex known as “latex vessels" grow in a spiral around the bark of the rubber tree. Most of the plantations which are responsible for the commercial production of latex are found in Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia.
The rubber trees themselves take 7 years to mature until they can be tapped and harvested for their Latex.
Today, a single highly productive tree has a life cycle for producing latex of about 28 years. Many trees can live up 100 years. Latex can be tapped without destroying the tree or creating pollution.
